This time of year tends to get busy with holiday tasks looming like some specter left over from Halloween. As year-end tasks at work pile up simultaneously with family and holiday tasks it is easy to go the path of Scrooge, or the Grinch. Take your pick. Perhaps that is why Thanksgiving is on the calendar precisely where it is, at the end of November. This uniquely American holiday provides us an opportunity, not for more tasks and busyness, but to take time to choose thankfulness. At the risk of sounding preachy, thankfulness carries a long list of benefits to those who maintain it in their lives.
So, since we all know that everything available on the internet is always true, I provide this quote, straight from Google.
“Expressing gratitude is associated with a host of mental and physical benefits. Studies have shown that feeling thankful can improve sleep, mood, and immunity. Gratitude can decrease depression, anxiety, difficulties with chronic pain, and risk of disease. If a pill could do this, everyone would be taking it”
On the work front here at Aspen, my colleagues and I on the BD team are sincerely thankful for the customers we have gained in the past year and those with whom we have been working for many years. Without you, we would not be able to carry out our passion for discovering, crafting, and developing new solutions for your applications. Like artists who enjoy the creativity of developing a sculpture, painting, or picture, we enjoy the creative process of learning what you require and then working with you and our product development team to provide precisely what you need, and what you want to compete in your chosen market. We are truly thankful for your trust in us that lets us release that creativity. As artists who also need to create functioning devices to meet precise specifications, we are constrained by the limits of physics and engineering to create the products you need. The creative process, however, is very similar to traditional art in that the creative flow is required to accomplish the desired effect. A big thank you to all of our customers, suppliers, and colleagues who make it possible to do what we do. Stay thankful, it will pay multiple dividends in your life.
