Dr. Kang Lee, President and CEO, said, “Our production team has remained fully operational throughout this difficult year as we continue to supply essential medical and military products to our customers. However, our office staff are primarily working remotely during the pandemic.” Glenn Deming, General Manager, added, “While we have been be able to safely continue our operations, we realize there are many that are less fortunate. I have to give credit to Shawn Cousineau, our Director of Manufacturing, who initiated a companywide campaign to raise awareness and more importantly donations to combat food insecurity”.

Shawn put his production team up against the “stay at home gang” to see who could raise more money. While the competition got heated, the senior management at Aspen Systems stepped in to offer dollar for dollar matching of each employee’s donation to the food charity of their choice. Contributions were made to local food banks as well as national and international food charities. As a result of Shawn’s challenge the Aspen team donated over $15,000!

About Hunger
Over 50 million Americans and 690 million people worldwide struggle with food insecurity. By the end of the year 12,000 people per day could die from hunger linked to COVID-19, potentially more than will die from the disease itself. The COVID-19 pandemic has placed enormous pressure on the global food supply chain. The United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) warned of “a looming food crisis,” stating that the pandemic could have a devastating impact on global hunger and poverty – especially on the poorest and most vulnerable populations. Global poverty is projected to increase for the first time since 1998, reversing decades of global progress against hunger and malnutrition.

If you want to donate, here are a couple of organizations to consider:

https://www.feedingamerica.org/ The Feeding America network provides over 4.3 billion meals annually, helping 1 in 7 Americans facing hunger live more secure and stable lives.

https://www.actionagainsthunger.org/ Active in 45+ countries and for more than 40 years, Action Against Hunger have led the global movement that aims to end life-threatening hunger for good within our lifetimes
