Aspen Systems was founded in 1984 by Dr. Kang P. Lee as a technology development company with the goal of developing and commercializing technologies into products for a wide range of markets. Aspen Systems now specializes in the design and manufacture of unique cooling systems based on our own miniature compressors we have perfected over three decades allowing us to provide custom, reliable, efficient, and powerful cooling systems in a compact package. Aspen has built a seasoned management team with a wealth of experience in a broad range of industries with backgrounds in business development, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and finance.
KANG P. LEE
CHAIRMAN AND PRESIDENT
Dr. Kang Lee is President and CEO of Aspen System. Dr. Lee has over 40 years of entrepreneurial experience with technology development, marketing and financing for small businesses. In his role as Chairman of Aspen Systems, Dr. Lee has successfully commercialized advanced insulation materials, compact cooling systems, and a variety of products for use in the medical industry. Dr. Lee holds a PhD from MIT and is a co-founder of Aspen Systems.
GREG MARTEL
VICE PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER
Mr. Greg Martel joined Aspen Systems in January of 2023 as Vice President and General Manager. Greg has spent the past 20 years in the thermal management industry with experience in single stage, cascade, and autocascade vapor compressor cooling as well as cryogenic and thermoelectric based cooling. Greg started his career as an Applications Engineer and has served in roles of increasing responsibilities including OEM Sales Representative, Product Applications Manager, Operations Manager, Director of Business Development, Director of Worldwide Sales, and Vice President of Technical Services before spending the past 5 years as Vice President and General Manager for his previous employer. Greg has a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from Suffolk University.
TIM SCOTT
DIRECTOR, ENGINEERING
Mr. Tim Scott is the Engineering Manager for Aspen Systems. He has over 20 years of experience in the design and development of thermal management systems for a wide variety of medical, commercial, industrial, and military applications. Tim earned his BS in mechanical engineering from Tufts University and his MS in mechanical engineering from MIT.
JOHN INGLIS
DIRECTOR OF QUALITY
Mr. John Inglis is the Director of Quality for Aspen Systems. With over 30 years of engineering, quality and operations management experience in the areas of digital electronics and microwave electronics. John brings both manufacturing and quality expertise to an always changing manufacturing operation. John holds a BS Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Napier University, Edinburgh, Scotland.
SHAWN COUSINEAU
DIRECTOR OF MANUFACTURING
Since 1994, Mr. Cousineau has worked in the refrigeration industry and the last 20+ years at Aspen Systems. As Aspen transitioned from an R&D company to a manufacturing firm, Shawn was instrumental in establishing multiple production lines for a diverse list of industries including military, semiconductor, medical device and electronics. Furthermore, he established manufacturing procedures and training programs for new engineers and technicians resulting in outstanding product reliability.
JAMES BURNETT
DIRECTOR, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Mr. James Burnett is the director of Business Development at Aspen Systems. With over 30 years of experience as an engineer, program manager and technologist, Jim brings a wealth of experience in the conception, development, and fielding of new products enabled by Aspen Systems advanced refrigeration systems technology. With significant experience in developing efficient thermal management approaches to advanced electronic packages, Jim is uniquely qualified to translate this technology into real fielded solutions for our customers.
TERRY SCHMIDT
VICE PRESIDENT, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Mr. Terry Schmidt is Vice President of Business Development for Aspen Systems. He has over 25 years of experience in medical device sales and marketing. Prior to joining Aspen Systems in 2021, Terry was the President of the USA Division of Zimmer Medizinsystems for 20 years. Terry has extensive industry experience in medical devices with a focus on aesthetics and rehabilitation. He is a graduate of the College of Wooster with a B.S. in Geology & Earth Science.
