In October, 2013, Massachusetts U.S. Representative Niki Tsongas visited Aspen Systems to assess the state of local research and development businesses. Aspen provided Tsongas with a tour of their facility and offered demonstrations of the miniature refrigeration technology.
Aspen spoke with Tsongas about the effects of budget cuts across the Department of Defense and how those cuts have prompted Aspen to adapt and adjust to the current market. Aspen has shifted product development focus toward commercial applications, while maintaining a strong military background and continuing to support that sector.
Tsongas also toured the Natick Solder Systems Center. She remarked: “The innovation that takes place both here in Natick and across the commonwealth in many of the small companies … is good to see. It’s synergy and collaboration that makes so much possible.”
